Green Points in Paralimni, Protaras and Ayia Napa: What Is Open in November 2026
The Famagusta free area has one working Green Point, Paralimni's municipal yard for its residents. Four new sites in Deryneia, Sotira, Avgorou and Ayia Napa are built or nearly built but not open. Who can use what, the rules, and where to go meanwhile.

The situation in November 2026
Checked: November 2026, against the pages of ΕΟΑ Αμμοχώστου and Paralimni–Deryneia municipality, and the latest press reports.
In the free area of Famagusta district, one Green Point is working: the Paralimni municipal yard, for residents of Paralimni–Deryneia municipality. Protaras belongs to Paralimni, so its residents use it too.
Four new Green Points have been built for the district self-government body, ΕΟΑ Αμμοχώστου: Deryneia, Sotira and Avgorou are ready, and Ayia Napa was due to be finished in October 2026. According to Politis on 21 October 2026, ΕΟΑ Αμμοχώστου was refusing to operate them until the local authorities' share of the running costs is secured. We found no announcement of their opening up to 8 November 2026.
The Paralimni municipal Green Point
The yard is in the Agios Panteleimonas area of Paralimni and has been open since 2016. It is a municipal site, for residents of Paralimni–Deryneia only: at the gate you give your name and address to a municipal employee and show proof of residence, such as a water bill.
- Accepted from residents: garden waste, waste from home repairs and renovations, furniture, metal, paper, packaging, glass and electrical appliances
- Hotels and private gardeners can bring prunings, and shops certain mixed waste such as polystyrene, against a fee per cubic metre of their vehicle
- Hours last published by the municipality (May 2025): winter, November to April, Monday to Saturday 07:00–16:00, Sunday 07:00–14:00; summer, May to October, Monday to Saturday 07:00–17:00, Sunday 07:00–14:00
The municipality has not published the exact address or a newer timetable online. Before the first visit, ring its health and cleaning service on 23819125 or 23819213 (municipal phone list) to confirm the hours and the way in.
The four new Green Points that have not opened
Deryneia is meant to serve all of Paralimni–Deryneia municipality. Sotira, Avgorou and Ayia Napa are all in Ayia Napa municipality, which since the 2024 reform also covers Achna and Liopetri. Their opening dates have slipped several times, and the dates still shown on the ΕΟΑ Αμμοχώστου page are from 2024 and 2025.
When they do open, ΕΟΑ Αμμοχώστου's published rules will apply: household waste only, clean and sorted; rubble, DIY waste such as tiles and sanitary ware, and small amounts of construction waste up to 100 kg per visit and one tonne in six months; nothing from contractors, industry or businesses. The district office is on 23811200, Monday to Friday 08:00–13:30.
Ayia Napa, Sotira, Liopetri: where to go meanwhile
For residents of Ayia Napa municipality there is, for now, no Green Point of their own. The Paralimni yard is for Paralimni–Deryneia residents. Your municipality is the first place to ask about bulky-item collection or a temporary drop-off.
The nearest district-run Green Points are over the line in Larnaca district, at Aradippou and Troulloi. ΕΟΑ Λάρνακας serves households and does not publish an area restriction, but it is a long drive with a full boot, and Troulloi opens only on Tuesdays and Fridays. Our Larnaca Green Points guide has their hours; ring 24501000 before you go.

Skip hire in Ayia NapaWhat no Green Point will take
Whichever site you end up at, a few things are refused everywhere in Cyprus: mixed household rubbish, kitchen waste, asbestos and anything from a business. Tyres have their own collection schemes, RTM and E4C, outside the Green Points. Dumping waste on a plot or by the road is an offence under the Waste Law, and since February 2026 an inspector can issue an out-of-court fine of up to 8,000 euros.
When a skip is easier
With only one yard open, and that one for Paralimni residents, a skip is often the practical choice in this part of the island. Typical cases are clearing a holiday flat in Protaras between seasons, a renovation in Ayia Napa or Sotira, or a garden cut back after the summer.
We deliver skips across the area, with collection and disposal included: in Paralimni from €200, in Protaras from €200 and in Ayia Napa from €200. Rubble, furniture and garden waste can go in together.
