Green Points in Cyprus: Locations, Opening Hours and What They Accept
Every Green Point in Cyprus by district, with the opening hours, what they take and refuse, the rubble limits that differ from one district to the next, who may use them, and how to prepare so you are not sent home.

What a Green Point is
Checked: November 2026, against the pages of each district's operator.
A Green Point (Πράσινο Σημείο) is a fenced yard with separate skips for furniture, garden waste, small amounts of rubble, appliances and recyclables. Households bring their waste there sorted, by car, and leave it free of charge. Since 1 July 2024 each district's self-government body (ΕΟΑ) runs them; the Department of Environment plans and builds new ones.
There is no single official list for the whole island. Each district publishes its own, and the counts in the press differ: the ministry spoke of 26 operating sites in July 2026, Politis of 28 in October. Below is our list, district by district, with a full guide for each.
Green Points by district

- Limassol, 4 sites: Parekklisia, Fasoula, Kolossi and Avdimou. None is inside the city. Limassol guide

- Paphos, 5 sites: Paphos (Mouttalos), Koloni, Peyia (Akoursos), Chrysochou near Polis and Agia Varvara. Paphos guide
- Famagusta free area: only the Paralimni municipal yard, for Paralimni–Deryneia residents. New sites in Deryneia, Sotira, Avgorou and Ayia Napa had not opened by 8 November 2026. Paralimni and Ayia Napa guide
The official sources are prasinasimeia.com for Nicosia, ΕΟΑ Λεμεσού, ΕΟΑ Λάρνακας, ΕΟΑ Πάφου and ΕΟΑ Αμμοχώστου. The minister has announced a network of 53 sites by 2028, so expect the list to grow.
Opening hours, district by district
Hours are set per district, and in Larnaca and Paphos per site. The short version:
- Nicosia: open every day. Monday to Saturday from 08:00 (Strovolos from 07:00) to 17:00 in winter and 19:00 in summer; Sunday until 14:00
- Limassol: Monday to Saturday 08:00–16:00, closed on Sunday
- Larnaca: varies by site. Aradippou and Dromolaxia open Monday to Saturday and Sunday 09:00–15:00; Troulloi only on Tuesday and Friday; the town site is closed on Monday
- Paphos: Saturday 08:00–13:00 everywhere; on weekdays Mouttalos and Koloni open daily, the other three on set days only
- Paralimni: the municipality's last published hours (May 2025) are Monday to Saturday from 07:00 and Sunday 07:00–14:00
Public holidays are closing days. Each city guide has the full timetable for every site.
What Green Points accept
The standard list across Cyprus has about two dozen categories. In everyday terms: furniture, mattresses and carpets; fridges, washing machines, TVs and other appliances; garden prunings; wood; scrap metal and radiators; paper and cardboard; plastics; glass; aluminium; clothes and toys. They also take the things that should never go in a bin: paint, glue, cleaning products, cooking and engine oil, batteries including car batteries, light bulbs, thermometers, old medicines and X-ray films.
Small amounts of rubble from household jobs are accepted too: tiles, a broken basin, bricks, a few sacks of plaster. How much counts as "small" depends on the district.
What they refuse
- Mixed rubbish bags and kitchen waste
- Anything from a business, a contractor or a gardener working for a client
- Plasterboard (refused in Limassol and Paphos, and not counted as rubble in Larnaca)
- Asbestos, in any form
- Tyres: no Green Point we checked takes them; they have their own collection schemes
- Fuel, pesticides and strong chemicals
- Appliances with parts removed, such as a fridge without its compressor
The sorting rule is the one people trip over most. The staff will point you to the right skip, but a car full of mixed bags will be turned away.
Rubble and quantity limits differ by district
- Nicosia: rubble up to 100 kg per visit and per job, and one tonne in six months
- Limassol: rubble up to 200 kg or half a double-cab pickup per six months; furniture 2 m³ per six months; garden waste 3 m³ per four months
- Larnaca: since 18 May 2026 no large quantities from renovations, and at most two visits a day; the authority tells owners to hire a skip
- Paphos: no weight limit published, but quantities must look like a household's, and pickups and lorries are not allowed in
- Famagusta (ΕΟΑ sites, once open): rubble up to 100 kg per visit and one tonne in six months
The limits are per household. In practice they cover small repairs and the odd clear-out, not a full bathroom or kitchen renovation.
More than a car can carry?
Order a skip online: pick the size and the delivery day. Disposal is included in the price.
See skip sizes and pricesWho can use them, and is it free
Green Points are for households, and drop-off is free. Companies, shops, contractors, professional gardeners, local authorities and organised groups are refused, even when the waste comes from your house. If a builder is doing the job, the builder's waste is the builder's to dispose of.
The district-run sites do not list proof of address as a requirement. The municipal yards do: Nicosia's yards in Kaimakli and Agios Dometios and the Paralimni yard ask for a utility bill, Nicosia also for your ID card. In Paphos the staff fill in a form with your details.
How to prepare so you are not sent home
- Sort at home: furniture in one pile, garden waste in another, rubble in sacks, appliances whole, recyclables bagged by type
- Check the day: several sites open only two or three days a week
- Arrive early: in Nicosia the last car goes in 15 minutes before closing
- In Paphos, come by car; pickups are not let in
- Keep plasterboard and anything chemical out of the load
- If in doubt about an item, phone the site; each city guide lists the numbers
Leaving it by the road is not an option
Dumping waste on a plot, a verge or next to the bins is an offence under the Waste Law. Since February 2026 the out-of-court fines go up to 8,000 euros, or 40,000 when imposed by a chief inspector, and in court the penalty can reach three years in prison. Rubbish left outside a closed Green Point counts as dumping too.
When a skip is easier than the Green Point
For one sofa, an old fridge or a boot of prunings, use the Green Point. It is free and it is what it is there for.
A skip makes more sense when the job is bigger than the limits: renovation rubble, a full house or flat clear-out, a garden with years of growth, or a holiday home far from any open Green Point. It also helps when you have no car, or when the site near you opens two days a week.
We deliver skips across Cyprus from €130, with collection and disposal included, and rubble, furniture and garden waste can share one skip. If you are unsure about the size, the skip size guide will help.
Questions and answers
- Are Green Points free?
- Yes, for household waste brought sorted. Waste from businesses and contractors is not accepted at all, paid or not. The one exception we found is the Paralimni municipal yard, where hotels, gardeners and shops can bring some waste for a fee.
- Are Green Points open on Sunday?
- In Nicosia yes, until 14:00. Some Larnaca sites, such as Aradippou and Dromolaxia, open on Sunday, 09:00–15:00. Limassol and Paphos sites are closed on Sunday.
- How much rubble can I take to a Green Point?
- It depends on the district: 100 kg per visit in Nicosia, 200 kg per six months in Limassol, household amounts only in Paphos, and no large renovation loads in Larnaca since May 2026.
- Can I leave a mattress?
- Yes. Mattresses are accepted as bulky waste at the Green Points of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos.
- Do they take old appliances?
- Yes. Fridges, washing machines, TVs and small appliances are accepted. In Limassol they must be complete, with no parts removed.
- Can a business use a Green Point?
- No. Green Points serve households only. Shops, offices, contractors and professional gardeners have to use licensed waste management companies or facilities.
- Do Green Points accept tyres?
- No Green Point we checked accepts tyres, and the Paphos list says so explicitly. Tyres have their own collection schemes.
